Welcome to the forum!

Copy & paste your SMS tones directly into your phone's Windows folder. Now they should show up in the advanced sound settings to you can pick them for your text message alerts.

Let's approach this calmly - you'll be fluent in your phone's structure in no-time!

First you want to have or download an alert sound / ring tone, like this one: http://www.1touchmobile.com/downloads/ringtones/bad2bone_LOUD.wma

Save it to your PC. Keep the file's location open.

Connect your phone to the PC via USB.

While connected, click on Start/Computer (or my Computer) and then on the icon that represents your phone.
You can also explore the files on your phone through ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.

Navigate to your phone's hard drive (not Storage Card) and then double click on your phone's Windows folder.
Since it's a large folder, it will take quite a while to be accessible / for all the files to load to view.

Now right click & copy the wma file from your pc, and paste it into your phone's Windows folder.

Now you can unplug your phone.

On your phone, go to Settings / Sound / Advanced / Notifications.
From the drop down menu, select Messaging: New text message.
Check mark on Play Sound and pick the newly downloaded ring tone from the drop-down menu next to it.

Click OK - and you're done. Next time you get a text message, Bad to the bone should strum.

actually, the only folder on the phone's memory that relates to Windows is the "Windows Media Player" folder...I'm sure that's not what you are talking about, but let me know if you are...I am confused as to why there isn't a Windows folder showing up?? Angry

On the pc, in your Folder Options, make sure View Hidden Files is checked.

If you're looking for the Windows Folder directly on the phone (not through pc usb connection), open your File Explorer, tap Menu and check Show All Files.

It should show up under Program Files or under your Temp folder. This is really the only way to go about viewing it.

Try putting the path in your pc's window bar manually:
Computer\(NAME OF YOUR DEVICE)\\\Temp

Just change (Name of your device) to whatever your phone is called on the pc.

yeah, I know it's frustrating....

Soft reset, all of them: the phone, the pc, and you Smiley

If it doesn't show up, try again tomorrow with fresh eyes. It has to be something simple, I hope Smiley

I'm putting these eyes here under the covers for tonight.

there are several ways to soft reset:

1. Power Button
Press and hold the power button until the phone tells you it will shut off. After it has shut down, press it again to turn it back on.

2. Soft Reset Hole
I am uncertain where exactly the little hole is located on the Tilt2 (your user manual should know), but on my Sprint TP2 it is awkwardly place on the side under the battery cover. Poke it with the stylus tip and it will soft reset.

3. Removing the Battery
Just taking it out and putting it back in.

4. Soft Reset App
There are several apps out there to affect shut-down / soft reset
Here are some examples:
http://www.pocketgear.com/en_US/html/display_product.jsp?id=prod6672748
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=96224

there are many more.
