I keep reading about flashing to 6.5, but can't find anything concrete.
Is 6.5 available "to the masses" yet?
My TP2 is five weeks old, running 6.1
Is flashing something you would recommend or advise against?
Thanks.

Unofficial ROM are indeed available to the masses.
TMerC and Tkima1 have flashed to their heart's content.

They can probably get you started in the right direction.

You will find many ROMs on xda-developers.com

Many thanks. However, it's all American terminoligy that's alien to me!
Names like Verizon, Sprint, and Telus mean nothing here in the UK!
My device is HTC TP2 from Vodafone UK. Can anyone point me in the right direction for flashing data that is right for that? Also, I'll need educating; "ROM" to me means "Read Only Memory", yet here it seems to indicate the load to be flashed, yeah?
It looks like I need a beginners' guide for UK users. Can anybody help?

Okay, you're TP2 Vodafone UK is a GSM phone.  So for starters, do NOT flash anything CDMA or you will brick your phone.  Source is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mobile_network_operators_of_Europe#United_Kingdom

But otherwise I would hold off on flashing for a bit, because you have a TP2.  I don't really know if there is anything different between flashing TP2 and TP1.  The reason I don't know is because XDA and PPCGeeks hasn't really gotten their hands on the TP2 or given us any tutorials for flashing it.

If you want to know more about ROMs.  Use the search bar in the top right, just type in ROM.  Or google some things about Custom ROMs.
Or read this:

Well, I know that they haven'y been able to get Hard-SPL (HSPL) on the TP2 yet.  HSPL is needed for flashing through the bootloader.  I have always flashed my phones through the bootloader, so I am not sure of any other method.

EDIT:  Doing the reading Tkima posted, I found that was for the TP, since you can put HSPL on it.  You are not able to flash a ROM on the TP2 since HSPL isn't out yet.

thanks for clearing that up.

I read so much about Rhodium Rom this and that, only to see now that they ported things to VGA screens.

We'll post the ROMs as they become available.

Check this out at XDA developers.  Olinex and cmonex, the people who create HSPL, are working on one for the TP2.  Check for updates and try to help them.  The tutorial on the first page is so you guys can help them develop HSPL. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530919

I know some guys that have been able to run custom ROMs on the TP2.  Ill ask them and see how they did it.  However, they do have high connections at HTC.

Yup.  Just asked my friends that are amazingly knowledgeable with windows mobile.  You can't get custom ROMs without Hard-SPL.
