Hello everyone first post here and i am looking for some advice. I currently have an iphone 3G which i am not going to lie I like very much but the only thing i wish it had was a physicial keyboard. Anyways I am a t mobile customer and i am really tempted about getting the HTC Pro 2 but i am having doubts because i can do so much with my iphone, 3rd part apps, app store, customize my home screen in many ways as i please without a computer. There are sites where i can download movies and tv shows straight to the phone, the messaging is great as well. I am not familiar with windows mobile and i am really looking for help in any way with this decision. Will i be able to add 3rd party apps with the HTC Pro 2? Are there sites out there where i can download tv shows/movies straight to the phone? Apps? Anything that can help me make this decision easier would really help. I am a big fan off 3rd party apps/hacks and making the best use of a smart phone so i want to be able to use this phone to the best of it's capabilities. I have read that there is a new windows mobile in the near future, is the HTC Pro 2 upgradable to 6.5 and beyond? Any advice will help, thanks.

1.  Windows Mobile is one of the most hackable and editable OS out there.  You can literally customize everything.  It has much more customizations than the iPhone.

2.  Since you want a physical keyboard, the TP2 keyboard is excellent.  One of the best.

3.  Windows Mobile has just as many 3rd party apps as the iPhone.  Windows Marketplace (the Windows version of the app store) is coming out soon.

4.  The phone plays any video the iPhone would play plus more.  You can also download files directly to your phone off the internet.

5.  The TP2 will ship with 6.1, but it will get a free upgrade to 6.5.  Also, you can hack the phone to install custom OS, so you can get 6.5 right now, even though it isnt out yet.  Read my post here for an explanation.  http://www.alltouchpro2.com/index.php?topic=296

Hi!
The thing is, most people in a WM forum will tell you that a WM phone is the cream of the crop. Myself - I could not imagine ever wanting a different platform.

BUT: It REALLY depends so much on what the user wants from a device. The two phones are very difficult to compare, but I think the closest it comes is to say: a WM phone is a PC in your pocket - with all the complications and intricacies that a real pc comes with, except some limitations, of course.

A WM phone is less skin-deep than the iphone and will feel more complicated until you have it rigged with your preferred customization. This can cause some frustration at times, but in the end, we learn to master these devices and appreciate them for it.

Since a lot of the apps are home-grown, some will not work a smooth as what you get from the app store.

WM is evolving more and more - the iPhone is pretty much what it is, with more things to add to it over time.

ATT will get the TP2 in about a month's time. If you're ripe for an upgrade, I believe they let you have it for 30 days - and if you don't like it, you can get your money back.

Hope this will help you!

Another selling factor is Windows Mobile supports full multi-tasking.  This means you can have more than 1 program running at the same time.  So you can listen to music and browse the internet at the same time.
