So, check this out. I recently purchased a few auxillery items for my HTP2, even before I actually had it in hand. One was a rubberized case for it. You know the type, the 2-piece hard plastic with the rubbery texture. Well, suffice it to say, it was just slightly too small for my US T-Mobile HTP2. Try as I might, I could NOT get it to fit. I almost scratched the crap out of my phone trying...

Ok, so I figured that it was maybe a manufacturer problem right? the 1-1,000 that quality control missed. So I ordered another one from a different vendor. STILL too small... Thus, I scrapped the idea.

So, heres the best part. The charging base for my HTP2 just came in from Hong Kong. Guess what?! The area around the charging post IS TOO SMALL FOR THE PHONE. Not a lot, but just enough that it woun't make a solid connection, or seat properly. I had to modify the hell out of the base in order for it to seat my phone enough to actually make it accept enough of the post to charge it. Its on there right now, so I'll let you know if it actually charges as it should, even though its not seated properly.

Conclusion, after seeing a friend of mines' HTP that he got overseas a week before I got mine, I noticed that they are not the same size. The US version is, in fact, thicker than the european model.

This leads me to a few more concerns. I just ordered the Invisible shield for my phone from Zagg. Will it fit the US version?Huh We will find out when it arrives.

It seems that anything that supposed to fit the HTP2 physically was modeled for the European version, not the US version.

Consider yourself warned!

Ya.  I checked the dimensions of the Tmobile TP2.  It is slightly larger and a bit heavier too.

and not only are the European ones different from the US ones - there are differences in hardware & housing etc with each provider as well.

thats kind of evil couldnt they just kept the dimensions and played with the interrior a bit instead making it compatible with ext addons like the rest of the tp2s 8P

well ok I know the answer myself
they could have done that but propably found that if they change the dimensions they have an easier time selling "original" extras for their version abit easier for them so you dont go around with a sprint bag for your t-mobile 8(

Also, Sprint and Verizon are adding 3.5 mm ports which is a welcome addition from the European model.  They also need different radios.  Moreover, Sprint and Verizon might need to be bigger since they are both CDMA and GSM.

Warning appreciated.  I would think sites such as Seidioonline and others that ask for your carrier and your phone model, would be supplying us with what fits for our phones.

I used to hate when they would ask for your carrier when you wanted a game.  I didn't know that carriers actually change the hardware sometimes.  The Tmobile version uses the Qualcomm MSM 7200A and the CDMA phones use the Qualcomm MSM 7600.

Yea, that's actually probably a good way to ensure we get the exact product that we need.  I think the TP2 is getting released with a lot of different little features that might make a difference in what we buy, so adding the carrier option is a solid way to isolate our needs.  At least we have that option at some places.

The 3.5 mm. is not really a problem at all just order a connector on eBay searching " touch pro 2 audio ". It's not more than $5 included shipping. I just got 1 for my self too.

Also I manage to purchased 1 box of Bodyguardz today, which I almost forgot that I have to really specifically choose the ' T-mobile ' TP2 model.  Grin

Cross those fingers, and thanks for sharing the warning to the rest of TP2 land.
