I put an .avi file on my phone but wmp say "this file can not be played" when I try to start it, how come?
Do I have to convert the files into some other format before i put them on there? It say's on the box that it should be able to play avi files. Am I being stupid or what am I doing wrong?

thx.

Maybe I should mention that I have the file on the memorycard, does that make a difference?

Does the file play on a computer?  It should play avi files.  And it doesn't matter if its on the memory card if other things on the memory card work.  Try Coreplayer and see if it works there.

Coreplayer and TCPMP both play avi files I believe.  Try either one.  I will say coreplayer is by far the best media player Ive seen though.  Good stuff.

dont think windows media player pocket supports avi files ;P never got the avi files I had to work with it anyways, but that might be a encoding thingy Cool

but core player worked perfect for it (though its a payware but its more than worth the money)
tcpmp didnt start tried a couple of winmo 6.1 versions that where recompiled for compatibility issues but didnt get them to work on my tp2 8/

And remember that .avi comes in many flavours. You probably need a specific codec. Is it that you can't play  any .avi files at all, or just this particular one?

I would rather convert them to mp4 format since it has a more efficient compression method to save space.  It also gives quality video too.

yeap coreplayer is good.
it has a equally good codec library as vlc has.

haha I noticed that with the freeware versions as well, but I havent had the pleasure of trying the kinoma player wich was sugested in  another thread, it might be equally good or even better or like the divx player (dont remember if it was freeware or payware though)

edit *** respect for kinoma player goes 2 atomic2mod for bringing it out in the spotlight Cool

I would recommend converting all your videos to mp4 format and changing them to an optimized bitrate and resolution.  I use xilisoft video converter.  The Best settings are:

720 x 480 Resolution
mp4 video codec
1200 bit rate

I downloaded CorePlayer, and it works great! The only thing that I had an issue with was the orientation full screen. I had to go into the options - Orientation, and select Left Hand so that it would come up correctly on my TP2. Otwise it was upside down when I folded out the keyboard to act as my base.

Are you using Change Screen or any other program that uses the accelerometer to reorient the screen.

On default, coreplayer will change it so it flips counter clockwise.  You just have to change the setting and it will save the setting.

The player is awesome.
